Mitchell and Peach Face Oil

Monday, May 25, 2015

In a recent monthly beauty box, I received a sample of the Mitchell and Peach Flora No. 1 Fine Radiance Face Oil. I've never used any face oils before, so I didn't give it much thought and put it aside for a few months. A few weeks ago, it caught my eye again and decided to give it a try. I was under the impression that face oils were meant to rehydrate skin- almost like a super-lotion, and I thought they would leave me skin feeling like a slippery, gross mess after application. This one hasn't done either of those things, which is both good and bad.

I've been using it on some dry spots under my eyes in the evening, hoping it would add a bit more hydration and softness to those problem areas. I honestly haven't seen much of a difference to those dry spots, but after reading about this face oil on the Mitchell and Peach website, it doesn't seem to be one of the effects it claims to have. The oil is described as being more of an astringent that's meant to plump the skin and even it's tone. So my expectations were way off...

Now that I know what it's meant for, I'll be switching it's use to my forehead and outer corners of my eyes and I'll be keeping track of how it performs. The oil itself smells fantastic, like a mixture of coconut and lavender, and sinks right into the skin as soon as it's applied, so no greasy face. *phew* Overall, I definitely like the scent and texture of this and I'm looking forward to trying more face oils. If you have any recommendations for a face oil that you've tried and enjoyed, please let me know!

  1. I never use facial oils. Which beauty box do you get every month? Is there one you can recommend?

  2. Absolutely! I subscribe to both Ipsy and Birchbox. Ipsy seems to have more beauty products in it each month but I don't love the rewards program. Birchbox is definitely my fave. It gives a good mix each month of beauty, skincare, hair care, fragrance and the rewards program is great. Every product you review gives you 10 points. Once you have 100 points it counts as $10 in the shop. And every time you place an order, every dollar you spend also counts as a point. I seem to earn points/$$ to cash in pretty quickly and there are tons of brands in the shop that I like. I recently cashed in some earned points/$$ on a By Terry Ombre Blackstar shadow stick and got it for about half price. So I think Birchbox can really be worth it especially if you take a few minutes each month to review the samples you get. I hope this was helpful! (I could probably do a whole post on this haha!)

  5. Hi hun, i suggest using Rosehip oil! It is the beeeest, I have been using it for 4months now and I will never go back. It's a dry oil so it doesn't feel greasy on the face, it is easily absorbed and is super super hydrating. My skin has never felt so soft and glowy! x

  6. I've never used a face oil, but I guess it would be a good idea to give it a try, as I have a dry skin. I heard the Antipodes oils are fantastic :)

    Have an awesome day!

  21. Hmmm I use oils as an under eye cream on my brows and lashes as a serum, as well as on my face for intense hydration. It's interesting that this one has such a specific use.

    I love coconut oil :)

  31. I think this one is coconut oil-based, so the texture was actually quite nice! Not too moisturizing, though. :(
